Question sheet:
1)i What are pixel dimensions?
Pixel dimensions are the digital resolution of a television or a computer screen. It is also the number of pixels wide and the number of pixels tall of a sensor; for example 1024x768.
ii. What is DPI resolution (dots per inch)?
DPI is the number of individual dots that can be placed in a line within the length of 1 inch (2.54cm).
iii. What is quality (of an image)?
The quality of an image measures the perceived image degradation. Imaging systems may introduce some amounts of distortion or artifacts in the signal, so the quality assessment is an important problem.
iv. What is compression settings?
When compression settings are used in photography, it is used to shrink the size of the photo, for example: if you want to send an image by email on your smartphone, a message will pop up asking you what size you would like to send your image, if you click small then that is what compressing is.
2)
i. What is a bitmap/raster?
Bitmaps and raster images are composed of dots or pixels. Their potential for scaling up for large format output is limited.
ii. What is vector?
A vector is a software and hardware that use geometrical formulas to represent images.
iii. What is the difference between a bitmap/raster and a vector?
Vector images are more flexible than bit maps because they can be resized and stretched. In addition, images store as vectors look better on devices like monitors and printers with higher resolution, where as bitmapped images always appear the same regardless of a device's resolution.
